The Sked: Monday Week 7

Another winning Monday night for NBC, although the 4.0 adult 18-49 rating in the preliminary fast nationals is actually at the low end for this season.  CBS, ABC and FOX are back to where they were three weeks ago, before the disruptions from the final Presidential Debate on 10.22 and Hurricane Sandy Coverage on 10.29.

ESPN’s Monday Night Football (Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints) had a limited impact on the NBC fast nationals.   In New Orleans (market #51, 0.56% of the US), the game was carried over the air on NBC’s WDSU 6.  Although the game received a mammoth rating in the Big Easy (around a 44 share in the local overnight ratings), New Orleans is the smallest NFL market and has a limited national impact.  In Philadelphia (market #4, 2.58% of the US), the game ran on independent WPHL 17 so no network schedules were affected.

A solid 4.5 for The Voice from 8-10 pm.  The Saints football game might be inflating the national rating by a tenth of a rating point, but The Voice usually goes up one tenth in the official nationals each week.  So call it a wash — the official national rating for The Voice will probably be a 4.5 rating.  Revolution fell below a 3 rating for the first time, but keep in mind a drop of one tenth of a rating point in one week is hardly significant. (Although such a decline gets much more attention when a threshold like 3.0 or 2.0 is crossed.)  Revolution normally does not get a weekly bump in the official nationals, so the Saints game could have more of an impact at 10 pm.  Revolution could be a 2.8 in the official nationals — more concerning but not worthy of any panic.

Despite a weak start last night from How I Met Your Mother (a season low 2.8), the rest of the CBS lineup matched recent, unspectacular levels.

And then there’s The Mob Doctor.  FOX gamely tried to bring it back on the schedule for November, as if the viewer rejection in September and the baseball pre-emptions in October never happened.  The audience will tolerate Bones, but they want noting to do with Mob Doctor.
