FOX’s new sitcoms held their own.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: Last week, the network had the benefit of the late afternoon NFL game, which boosted its numbers. Last night’s ratings were in line with the NFL-less night 2 weeks ago: THE SIMPSONS down 0.2 to 1.8, COOPER BARRETT’S GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE steady at 1.2, FAMILY GUY down 0.1 to 1.6, and BORDERTOWN down 0.1 to 1.1.
CBS: It had the giant NFL PLAYOFFS game in the afternoon, sending 60 MINUTES to a preliminary sky-high 4.7, with MADAM SECRETARY doubling to 2.0 and THE GOOD WIFE up 0.2 to 1.3. (On the west coast, a GOOD WIFE rerun followed the new episode)
NBC: After a 1.0 DATELINE, the DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE scored 1.9, up a healthy 0.8 from the Debate on December 19 that aired on ABC.
ABC: The night started with a steady 0.8 for AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS, then GALAVANT, despite the lack of Golden Globes competition, was only able to hold last week’s 0.6. QUANTICO reruns followed at 0.3/0.4.
All the networks are new tonight, with a JUST FOR LAUGHS special airing on CW.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
