The AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS lost some of their melody.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: At 3.8, the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS were down 0.4 from last year’s preliminary rating (which adjusted up by an additional 0.3 in final numbers). The night started with a 0.1 drop for AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS to 1.4.
CBS: The network’s numbers will be adjusted because of an approximately 40-minute national football overrun. Currently, 60 MINUTES is at 3.9, MADAM SECRETARY is at 1.8, THE GOOD WIFE is at 1.4 and CSI is at 1.3.
FOX: This was the first time in 3 weeks that FOX didn’t have the late afternoon national NFL game, so its numbers are violently down from the ratings for the last 2 Sundays. Compared to November 2, THE SIMPSONS was down 0.4 to 1.6, and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE was down 0.1 to 1.5. After FAMILY GUY ran the latest of its unusual number of reruns this fall (at 1.2), BOB’S BURGERS was at 0.9, which was 0.2 better than MULANEY had done in a similar position 3 weeks ago. Thinking of MULANEY, in its first 7:30PM airing it managed 0.7.
NBC: Showing the continuing ratings value of marquee teams, the down-to-the-wire SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game between the NY Giants and Dallas Cowboys scored 7.1, up 0.9 from last week’s preliminary number.
CBS’s ratings tonight will be affected by the fact that its NY and Buffalo stations will be showing the NFL game postponed from yesterday and relocated to Detroit due to heavy snow, with no national network outlet. ABC airs the first part of the DANCING WITH THE STARS cycle finale. FOX has the fall finales of GOTHAM and SLEEPY HOLLOW, and NBC will be carefully monitoring the Week 2 ratings of STATE OF AFFAIRS.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

The Sked: SUNDAY Ratings
Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).

Even football was subdued on a very quiet night. CBS: A blowout win by Atlanta over Tampa Bay tested even NFL fans, as THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL crashed by 2.2 from last week to a 3.3 preliminary rating. That will go up in final numbers, but not enough to make…
