Even at the end of Thanksgiving weekend, viewers weren’t enthused about returning to their TVs.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
CBS: The network had the much-hyped New England vs Green Bay afternoon NFL game, which pushed 60 MINUTES to 3.7, even 0.5 higher than last week’s post-football episode. The glow extended to MADAM SECRETARY, up 0.3 from last week to 1.9. The season premiere of THE MENTALIST was at 1.6, around the same level as the show had last season, and up 0.2 from last week’s THE GOOD WIFE. CSI wrapped up the night up 0.1 to 1.4.
ABC: Down across the board after last week’s preemptions for the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS. AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS lost 0.2 to 1.1, ONCE UPON A TIME fell 0.4 to 2.0, RESURRECTION dropped 0.4 to a new low 0.8, and REVENGE was down an ugly half-point to a new low 1.0.
FOX: With reruns of THE SIMPSONS (1.0) and FAMILY GUY (1.1) failing to anchor the night, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE and BOB’S BURGERS held their own, with BROOKLYN down 0.1 to 1.4, and BOB’S (which also had a rerun FAMILY GUY as its lead-in last week) gaining 0.1 to 1.0. MULANEY started the night down 0.1 to 0.6.
NBC: SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL has a preliminary 6.3, down 0.8 from last week’s preliminary rating.
Tonight NBC will find out whether the plunge in STATE OF AFFAIRS’ ratings last week was the result of football and news disruptions or a real problem. It should be helped by CBS fielding a line-up of reruns for the night, including an out-of-timeslot run of SCORPION at 10PM. ABC has a CMA COUNTRY CHRISTMAS special leading in to CASTLE, and FOX isn’t doing much for the fall finale of SLEEPY HOLLOW by giving it a rerun GOTHAM as a lead-in. CW airs Christmas specials.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
