THE SKED NETWORK SCORECARD – 12/15/13

On a night dotted with football (adjusted up below to anticipated final numbers), it didn’t pay to be the odd network out.

Daily Comparison 2013 Sun Dec 15 three way

ABC:  The fall finale of ONCE UPON A TIME didn’t go the way ABC had hoped, dropping 0.2 from last week to 1.9, which tied its all-time low.  The show doesn’t return until March, and the network has to be apprehensive about how it will score after the long break.  REVENGE, too, found few curiosity-seekers for its fall finale, down 0.1 to 1.5.  BETRAYAL, with 3 episodes left, gained 0.1 to 0.8.

CBS:  In portions of the country, local football coverage pushed the network line-up forward, so numbers are subject to adjustment.  As of now, SURVIVOR had the lowest finale of its long history, down 0.6 from last fall’s finale to 2.6.  The SURVIVOR REUNION SPECIAL was at 1.9.

FOX:  A huge overrun for the Dallas/Green Bay game (aka the Dallas collapse), which we think will end up at 8.1, propelled the night’s schedule.  THE SIMPSONS was up 0.4 to 3.5, BOB’S BURGERS rose 0.3 to 2.4, FAMILY GUY (featuring a not-very-shocking plot twist) gained 0.3 to 3.0, and AMERICAN DAD was also up 0.3 to 2.4.

NBC:  The Cincinnati/Pittsburgh SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game should end up at 5.8, more than a point below last week’s game.

CBS is the only network with all regular programming tonight.  Seasonal short-form series THE SING OFF and THE GREAT CHRISTMAS LIGHT FIGHT air on NBC and ABC, and FOX already seems to be burning off episodes of ALMOST HUMAN, using a new hour to precede a pair of holiday specials.
