THE PASSION didn’t inspire much.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: The night started low with 0.8 for a new ICE AGE animation (after 1.0 for a rerun of THE SIMPSONS), and THE PASSION was unable to appeal to a wide mainstream audience with a 1.6 that was marginally higher than FOX’s usual Sunday animated shows, and far below the network’s recent GREASE LIVE. The musical could have an afterlife (so to speak), though, with an international distribution deal through Netflix already announced.
NBC: The addition of CROWDED to the line-up changed very little, with a 1.0 that was 0.1 below last week’s 2d episode of THE CARMICHAEL SHOW. The night started (after a 1.2 LITTLE BIG SHOTS rerun) with a new LITTLE BIG SHOTS down 0.2 to 2.6 and THE CARMICHAEL SHOW steady at 1.4, and ended with HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT down 0.1 to 0.7.
ABC: After AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS held last week’s 1.1, the line-up was down: ONCE UPON A TIME by 0.2 to a series low 1.1 (one can assume a certain amount of family audience overlap with THE PASSION), THE FAMILY by 0.1 to 0.7, and QUANTICO by 0.1 to 1.0.
CBS: The late afternoon NCAA TOURNAMENT game ran into primetime, so all the preliminary numbers are subject to change. At the moment, 60 MINUTES is at 1.7, MADAM SECRETARY is at 1.2, THE GOOD WIFE is at 1.0, and the timeslot premiere of ELEMENTARY is at 0.8, with the latter in line with what CSI: CYBER was doing in that slot.
Tonight’s arrival is the cycle premiere of ABC’s DANCING WITH THE STARS.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
