FROZEN continued to be gold for Disney and its subsidiaries last night.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment) Sunday, the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: The FROZEN story arc of ONCE UPON A TIME lifted that show to a huge 3.4 rating, 0.8 higher than last season’s premiere. (Even the clip show that preceded it was up from last year’s installment, at 1.5 compared to 1.3.) RESURRECTION, at 2.2, was far below its 3.6 series premiere last March, and even below REVENGE’s 2.4 season premiere in the 9PM slot last fall–although it was 0.2 above RESURRECTION’s own season finale in May. REVENGE itself had its lowest-rated season premiere at 1.4, but on the (barely) plus side, it was 0.1 above the premiere of BETRAYAL in the 10PM slot last fall.
FOX: The season premiere of THE SIMPSONS, driven in part by a huge football overrun and also by reports of a character death, was up more than a point from last fall to 3.9, and the FAMILY GUY premiere, which was actually the highly-anticipated crossover hour with THE SIMPSONS, zoomed almost two points from last fall to 4.5. The bad news for FOX was that in the middle of all this, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE could only manage 2.6, which was better than it had been doing on Tuesdays, and also better than last fall’s 2.1 season premiere of BOB’S BURGERS (which had a much lower lead-in), but doesn’t bode well for how the show will do when the animated series hammocking it aren’t such major events.
CBS: 60 MINUTES plunged to 1.1 without last week’s giant football lead-in. MADAME SECRETARY dropped 0.6 from last week’s debut to a very mortal 1.4, just a hair better than THE GOOD WIFE’s 1.3 (which was a tick below last week’s season premiere). The season premiere of CSI was at 1.4, 0.2 behind last fall’s season premiere of THE MENTALIST.
NBC: SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL had a preliminary 7.6, up 0.4 from last week’s early rating.
The season premiere of CASTLE is the new arrival tonight, but all eyes will be on GOTHAM and SCORPION, which debuted well last week, but will need to show some staying power. CBS decided to help out SCORPION by calling an audible on its fall Mondays, holding MOM until THE BIG BANG THEORY returns to Thursday nights post-football, and running BIG BANG reruns in the 8:30PM slot through October.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings for Sunday, the same night last year and same night last week.

The Sked: SUNDAY Ratings
Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
