THE SKED NETWORK SCORECARD – 1/16/14

American Idol‘s woes continued last night.  (So did everyone else’s.)

Daily Comparison 2014 Thu Jan 16 three way

FOX:  On a year-to-year basis, Thursday’s plunge for AMERICAN IDOL was even worse than Wednesday’s, down an awful 1.7 from last season’s 2d night to 3.9.  There seems to be a real chance that this will be the first season Idol has sub-3 numbers during its run.  Nevertheless, for the moment at least its numbers were still more than enough to win the night for FOX.

NBC:  Against Idol, the bad got worse.  A terrific episode of COMMUNITY fell 0.3 to 1.1, and despite Amy Poehler’s Golden Globe win on Sunday, PARKS & RECREATION slumped 0.3 as well, to 1.2.  SEAN SAVES THE WORLD and THE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW both hit series lows (for Sean it tied the previous low), with Sean down 0.2 to 0.8 and Fox down 0.4 to a truly horrific 0.6.  PARENTHOOD also tied its series low, down 0.1 to 1.2, although the loyalty of its fans was demonstrated by the big bump it took from its lead-in.

ABC:  THE TASTE fell 0.4 to a series low 0.9, and then a SHARK TANK rerun tied the new programming on NBC with 1.2.

CBS:  The Eye took the night off and ran back-to-back reruns, highlighted of course by THE BIG BANG THEORY and its 2.9, which was within 0.9 of the new Idol.

CW:  The attempt to capitalize on the morning’s Oscar nominations didn’t work, as the CRITICS CHOICE AWARDS fell 0.2 from last year’s edition to 0.4.

All the networks air new programming tonight, and FOX will hope that ENLISTED doesn’t fall further from its lackluster debut.
