There was bad news for just about everyone last night.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
ABC: AMERICAN CRIME collapsed in its second airing, down 0.6 to a blah 1.4 that put it behind CBS for the hour. The night’s preceding shows were in a slump as well, as GREY’S ANATOMY fell 0.3 to 2.1, and SCANDAL dropped 0.4 to 2.6.
NBC: The network’s schedule moves did no good. The new REAL BLACKLIST-themed DATELINE had the same 0.8 as the newly-moved THE SLAP did last week, THE BLACKLIST lost 0.1 to 1.7, and THE SLAP, now moved to 10PM, fell 0.2 to a new low 0.6.
CBS: THE BIG BANG THEORY and THE ODD COUPLE were each down 0.4 from last week, to 4.4 and 2.6, while the night’s BIG BANG rerun was down 0.2 to 2.2. Things improved after that, though, as MOM gained 0.1 to 2.3 despite its lower lead-in (and did almost as well after the rerun BIG BANG as ODD COUPLE had after the fresh episode), and ELEMENTARY rose by 0.2 to 1.5.
FOX: AMERICAN IDOL crashed by half a point with a 2-hour episode at 1.7.
CW: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES returned from hiatus at a mediocre 0.6, a long way from its glory days, and not far ahead of REIGN at 0.4.
All the networks are new tonight except CW. On cable, Cinemax airs the season finale of BANSHEE.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
