UPDATED: THE SKED CABLE/NETWORK TUESDAY SCORECARD – 7/1/14

NETWORK UPDATE:  The only shifts came at 10PM, where THE NIGHT SHIFT lost 0.1 and CELEBRITY WIFE SWAP gained the same amount.  That made the margin between them a bit closer, but an 0.4 win for NIGHT SHIFT is plenty good enough.

TUESDAY CABLE:  As detailed in today’s WORLD CUP SKEDBALL, the US vs. Belgium match towered over everything else on TV yesterday, cable or broadcast, with a 4.6 18-49 rating–and even more so with male viewers.  In fact, ESPN’s post-match and pre-match coverage were, respectively, the #2 and #3 cable telecasts of the day at 2.8/1.4.  The Argentina vs. Switzerland match and ESPN’s nightly WORLD CUP LIVE telecast were also in the Top 10, at 1.2/1.1.  The highest-rated non-soccer new show of the night was THE DEADLIEST CATCH (Discovery), although that was down 0.2 to 1.0.  The 2d episode of TYRANT (FX) held up pretty well, down just 0.1 to 0.5–but the show can’t afford to dip any more from there.  On TNT, RIZZOLI & ISLES and PERCEPTION were at 0.9/0.6, which was down 0.1 for RIZZOLI.  On ABCFamily, PRETTY LITTLE LIARS dropped 0.1 to 0.9, while CHASING LIFE remained at 0.5.  (In the network’s target demos, the shows were at 2.3/1.2 in Women 18-34, and at 3.2/1.6 with teen girls.)  On USA, ROYAL PAINS grew 0.1 to 0.6, but COVERT AFFAIRS appears to be done for, down another 0.1 to 0.3.  THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS (OWN) lost 0.1 to 0.9.  On Comedy Central, the season premieres of DRUNK HISTORY and NATHAN FOR YOU were at 0.5/0.4.

NBC’s summer Tuesday had no problem dominating the other networks.  However, no one will be surprised if it turns out that the highest-rated telecast of the day was ESPN’s coverage of the US’s World Cup game.  (Preliminary household numbers make it, at 9.6, the highest rated ESPN World Cup game ever.)  Look for our WORLD CUP SKEDBALL post this afternoon for details on those numbers.

NBC:  AMERICA’S GOT TALENT was steady at 2.6 with its last new episode (last week was a rerun), and the newly-renewed THE NIGHT SHIFT, at 1.5, proved its value by rising 0.3 from last week and even 0.1 from the week before, when it had the stronger AGT lead-in.

ABC:  EXTREME WEIGHT LOSS slipped 0.1 from last week to 0.9.  CELEBRITY WIFE SWAP crashed, down 0.4 to 0.9.

CW:  FAMOUS IN 12 held at 0.2, which tied it with the SUPERNATURAL rerun that followed.

CBS:  Reruns, led by NCIS at 1.0.

FOX:  Reruns, led by 0.8 for FAMILY GUY.

CBS is giving Monday’s season premiere of UNDER THE DOME another run tonight after BIG BROTHER (the rush is probably in part because under the network’s deal with Amazon, the streaming window on the episode begins in just a few days).  NBC airs the 2d episode of TAXI BROOKLYN, and FOX has SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE.
