NBC is on track to win its third Tuesday in a row according to the preliminary fast nationals.  Last week was a bit of an aberration because of the presidential debate but October 9 and 23 were more normal weeks in which CBS’s erosion has allowed NBC to sneak ahead.  FOX and ABC continue to be non-factors on the night, each hovering around a 2 rating.

NBC ‘s The Voice is once again the highest-rated show on the night, a 4.1 in the fast nationals, while Go On has settled into a respectable 2.5 rating.  9:30-11:00 continues to fall below a 2 rating as we forecast last spring, but keep in mind that 1.9 for Parenthood actually beats both Vegas on CBS and Private Practice on ABC in a race to the bottom at that hour.

NCIS and NCIS: Los Angeles are solid but nowhere near last year’s level, and Vegas is a flat-out embarrassment: a 1.5 rating and one full rating point behind Unforgettable‘s rating on the comparable week.

FOX comedy at 8 pm continues to struggle well under a 2 rating, while New Girl delivered its reliable 2.7 rating at 9:00.  A special re-edited X Factor (an hour version of the two-hour episode that was partially telecast last Wednesday in the odd night interrupted by baseball playoff rain delays) scored a 2.4 from 9:30-10:30, almost identical to the 2.3 rating for the original, partial telecast last week but well below the mid-3 rating X Factor episodes normally earn.

ABC finally premiered its 9-10 pm comedy hour, and both Happy Endings (1.9) and Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23 (1.7) are pretty much toast, well below a 2 rating and below our moderate forecast for the hour.  The underwhelming comedy duo brought the now-cancelled Private Practice down a few notches to a 1.4 rating.  The night is a mess.
