SHOWBUZZDAILY NETWORK SCORECARD – 10.29.2014

It took Game 7 of the World Series, but America finally watched baseball.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).

Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.

Demo Profile 2014 WED Oct 29

FOX:   A tiny bit of redemption for Major League Baseball, as FOX averaged a 5.6 adult 18-49 fast national rating, which should go up to a 6.6 adult 18-49 rating in the official nationals (with the west coast viewing correctly counted).  Still the lowest Game 7 ever, but not embarrassingly distant from the 7.4 rating in 2011 for Texas-St. Louis.  Total viewers for Game 7 Wednesday currently average 20.2 million, headed for 23.8 million in the official numbers (a touch below the previous low for Game 7 in 2011).  See Mitch Metcalf’s SKEDBALL World Series ratings analysis for more details.

ABC:  After the 8PM hour, the female-skewing ABC line-up did fine despite the huge jump in FOX’s night.  THE MIDDLE was down 0.3 to 1.8, and THE GOLDBERGS fell 0.2 to 2.1.  However, MODERN FAMILY was steady at 3.4, BLACK-ISH grew 0.3 to 2.7, and NASHVILLE edged up 0.1 to 1.5.

CBS:  SURVIVOR remained at 2.2.  Both CRIMINAL MINDS and STALKER were down 0.2, to 2.3/1.5.

CW:  The network was preempted in Chicago for basketball, which may lead to afternoon adjustments.  At the moment, ARROW and THE 100 are both up 0.1, to 1.0/0.6.

NBC:  Only THE MYSTERIES OF LAURA was new last night, and it was down 0.1 to 1.2 (the show has nevertheless received a full-season pick-up).  Reruns followed at 0.9/0.8.

The final piece of the network fall is put into place tonight as CBS introduces its post-football Thursday, which includes the premiere of THE MCCARTHYS, and the (so far) temporary move of MOM to the cozy post-BIG BANG THEORY 8:30PM slot.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
