SHOWBUZZDAILY Wednesday Network Scorecard – 11.9.2016

Some shows bounced back from preemption and World Series competition better than others.

DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).

Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.

FOX:  Due to the World Series, the line-up aired for the first time in 3 weeks, and while LETHAL WEAPON only slipped 0.1 from that airing to 1.8, EMPIRE was far more shaken by the absence, down a huge 0.6 to 2.9, a new series low that means there is no longer any scripted drama on broadcast TV rating over a 3.

ABC:  After last week’s CMA Awards preemption, THE GOLDBERGS returned down 0.2 to 1.8, while SPEECHLESS was steady at 1.7, MODERN FAMILY held at 2.3, BLACK-ISH was down 0.1 to 1.6, and DESIGNATED SURVIVOR remained at 1.2.

NBC:  BLINDSPOT returned after the network ran an all-rerun slate against last week’s Game 7, and it was down 0.1 to a new low 1.0, while SVU fell 0.2 to 1.3, and CHICAGO FIRE was steady at 1.3.

CBS:  SURVIVOR did run against Game 7, and it bounced back by 0.3 to 1.9.  However, CRIMINAL MINDS took last week off, and dropped 0.3 to a new low 1.3.  CODE BLACK aired last week, and gained 0.2 from that run to 0.9.

CW:  The network’s shows were largely unaffected by the World Series, and stayed that way now that it’s over, as ARROW rose 0.1 to 0.7, and FREQUENCY stayed at 0.3.

All the broadcasters air their regular schedules tonight.  On cable, FX’s BETTER THINGS has its season finale.

COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
