Weekend Box Office Predictions 10.9-11.2015

Weekend #41 of 2015 is looking like $112 million for the top 12 films this weekend, very close to the norm for this weekend but below last year’s strong weekend (see comparisons below).

Pan from Warner Brothers should open with a $16.5 million weekend. The film is on track for around $70 million domestic. Overseas the film could bring in $210 million, giving it a worldwide box office target of $280 million.

The Walk from Sony should open with a $7.5 million first wide weekend, which would take it to $10.3 million through Sunday. The film is on track for around $35 million domestic. Overseas the film could bring in $65 million, giving it a worldwide box office target of $100 million.

For the past four years, the top 12 films this weekend have averaged $110 million total (Friday-Sunday), ranking 38th of 52 weeks. Last year, this weekend’s total was $136 million (while 2013 was $107 million, 2012 was $121 million and 2011 was $77 million). This Friday-Sunday is looking like a fairly typical $112 million, up +2% from the multi-year average for the comparable weekend but down -17% from the same weekend last year.
