Posted October 31, 2012 by Mitch Metcalf

This weekend is looking like it will be about 12% below the comparable weekend the last few years (about $106 million for the top 12 films).  Wreck-It-Ralph should play well to the family crowd, while Flight will be a moderate success at best, and Man with the Iron Fists is destined for an early exit […]

Posted October 28, 2012 by Mitch Metcalf

Among films currently playing in North America, the big gainers overseas were Taken 2 and Hotel Transylvania (each up $23 million overseas since last week), as well as Paranormal Activity 4 (just behind at +$22 million). BEHIND THE WEEKEND BOXOFFICE – 10/28/12

Posted October 28, 2012 by Mitch Salem

SHOWBUZZDAILY BEHIND THE FRIDAY BOXOFFICE – 10/26/12

Posted October 27, 2012 by Mitch Salem

Ugliness abounds, unless your title is Argo. OPENINGS:  CLOUD ATLAS (Warners) will be the tallest tree in the weekend’s bonzai forest, but that’s small comfort for a movie that cost $100M (plus heavy marketing) and probably won’t make much more than $10M for the weekend, based on its $3.5M Friday.  This, sadly, is why […]

FRIDAY OCTOBER 26 BOX OFFICE RESULTS

Posted October 27, 2012 by Mitch Metcalf

The winning streak is over after four straight up weekends.  Weekend #43 will just about match the multi-year average for this weekend and actually under-perform the same weekend last year.  None of the openers this weekend will make an impact on the box office beyond next week, while Argo continues to quietly pack them in […]
