The 2016 Democratic National Convention from Philadelphia opened with a very strong 25.8 million persons 2+ across the three broadcast networks and three main cable news channels in the 10 pm ET hour, when Michelle Obama, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders spoke. This audience is more than 3 million ahead of last Monday’s first night of the RNC in Cleveland and ahead of the comparable night for every RNC and DNC the last two cycles. The 8.6 million 25-54 year-olds across the six networks last night also beat the RNC pace this year as well as the other first nights of the Democratic and Republican conventions the last two cycles.
CNN was a strong #1 in both total viewers and 25-54, as Fox News went into its usual hibernation after winning the Republican convention last week.
