THE SKED 2013 UPFRONTS: ABC Midseason Trailer – “Resurrection”

RESURRECTION is one of ABC’s TBD series, and it seems that it may be intended to have a limited run (perhaps bridging the gaps of a serialized show, in order to avoid reruns and preemptions), although it’s not clear if that means it would come to a definite end in the way of a traditional miniseries.  It’s also the network’s most overtly supernatural new drama.

Resurrection will be one of those shows that revolves around a central mystery–how did these people who apparently died decades ago become somehow frozen in time and return to their old lives, unaware that they’d been gone?  Solving those kinds of mysteries in a satisfying way is tricky, to say the least. It isn’t clear whether the series would follow this particular undead boy from the pilot or whether it would be about an undead-of-the-week, with the Omar Epps investigator character as the link between them and the larger narrative.  It could also end up being a spiritual tale or one rooted in sci-fi.  All one can say at this point is that it seems moderately intriguing, although not particularly buzz-y.
