THE VAMPIRE DIARIES exited with some dignity.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis follows the chart.
CW: Although far from the ratings of its glory days, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES climbed 0.1 to a season-high 0.5 for its series finale. The clip show that preceded it was at 0.4.
CBS: Crossover stunts are usually sure-thing boosts for the ratings, but apparently not for fans of MACGYVER and HAWAII 5-0. Those shows were respectively down 0.1 (to 1.0) and steady (at 1.1) compared to their last airings. BLUE BLOODS ended the night at the same 1.1 as its last episode 3 weeks ago.
ABC: LAST MAN STANDING dropped 0.2 from its last episode 2 weeks ago to 1.0, and DR KEN was down 0.1 to 0.8. SHARK TANK was a 0.9 rerun, and then 20/20 fell 0.2 to 0.8.
NBC: GRIMM held at 0.8, followed by 1.1 for a 2-hour DATELINE, up 0.3 from last week’s 1-hour episode.
FOX: After a 0.4 ROSEWOOD rerun, SLEEPY HOLLOW remained at 0.4.
An NBA game and RANSOM are all the networks have to offer tonight in primetime. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE is hosted by Scarlett Johansson, with musical guest Lorde. On Sunday, ABC has the season premiere of AMERICAN CRIME, which based on its ratings history won’t do much to help the ailing line-up. Sunday also marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time, which tends to lower ratings for 8PM shows each night.
