NETWORK UPDATE: SHARK TANK went even higher in final Friday numbers, up 0.1 to a new season high 2.3. However, the entire NBC line-up (which had been preempted in Portland for an NBA playoff game) went down, DATELINE and GRIMM by 0.1 and HANNIBAL (which started at 10:01PM) by 0.2 UNFORGETTABLE was also down 0.1.
FRIDAY CABLE: The NBA PLAYOFFS were once again on top, with ESPN’s pair of games at 2.0/1.3. The NHL PLAYOFFS were at 0.8/0.6 for NBC Sports Network, and WWE (Syfy) added to the sports night theme at 0.6. SONS OF GUNS (Discovery) was the highest-rated non-sports original at 0.6. Worth noting: decade-old (if not older) FRIENDS reruns on Nick At Nite scored as high as 0.6 for the evening.
A great night for ABC.
ABC: The network gave Shark Tank an extremely compatible lead-in for a change, the special SWIMMING WITH SHARKS, and that didn’t just score a 1.5, it lifted SHARK TANK itself to a season high-tying 2.2. 20/20, benefiting from a high-profile Barbara Walters interview with Donald Sterling’s paramour, rose 0.3 to 1.7.
CBS: Despite the strong competition on ABC, UNFORGETTABLE rose 0.2 to 1.1. HAWAII 5-0 lost 0.1 to 1.2, and BLUE BLOODS found that 0.1 for 1.5.
NBC: Currently, DATELINE is at 1.2 (up 0.1), GRIMM is at 1.4 (up 0.2) and HANNIBAL is at 1.1 (up 0.2). However, the network’s Portland station aired an NBA Playoff game, and even where the regular line-up aired, Hannibal started at 10:01PM, so these numbers may very well shift.
FOX: 2 hours of KITCHEN NIGHTMARES were at 0.8, down 0.3 from last week.
CW: The original half-hour of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY fell 0.1 to 0.4, and for once the rerun did worse, down 0.2 to 0.3. That looked good, though, compared to HART OF DIXIE, which dropped 0.1 to tie its series low 0.2 (and yet speculation is that it’s going to be renewed for another season, such is the pull of a Season 4 that adds premiums to a post-network syndication deal).
TNT is likely to be on top in primetime tonight with NBA PLAYOFF Game 7s on tap. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE is hosted by the box office man of the hour, Andrew Garfield, with musical guest Coldplay. On Sunday, the event–perhaps not as big as ABC had once hoped–is the season finale of RESURRECTION.
