Viewers didn’t wish the networks a Happy New Year.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
FOX: It was clear what viewers did and didn’t want to watch in the new FOX Sunday line-up. THE SIMPSONS, airing a new episode for the first time since December 13 (when FOX also had afternoon NFL football) was down 0.4 from that night to 2.0, but then the premiere of COOPER BARRETT’S GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE plunged to 1.2. Similarly, viewership jumped up at 9PM for FAMILY GUY at 1.7 (steady with December 13), but then fell once again to 1.1 for the premiere of BORDERTOWN. Since FOX has a limited amount of NFL left for the season, this doesn’t bode well for its spring Sundays.
ABC: The network had to know what it was getting when it renewed GALAVANT to fill in again for ONCE UPON A TIME, and that’s what it got. After a 1.1 AMERICA’S FUNNIEST HOME VIDEOS lead-in, GALAVANT was at 0.9, which (after a strong premiere) was where it had been toward the end of its 2014 run. It was followed by twin 0.4 reruns of QUANTICO.
CBS: Late football pushed primetime by 55 minutes. 60 MINUTES rode that lead-in to a preliminary 2.4, and UNDERCOVER BOSS is currently steady at 1.4, with the first hour of the LIMITLESS rerun that followed at 0.7. (We don’t have the 2d hour, which fell mostly out of primetime.)
NBC: The last SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL of the season (that sound is NBC executives weeping) jumped up to a preliminary 7.0, far higher than last week’s early 5.3.
All the networks (except CW) are new tonight. That includes the premiere of SUPERHUMAN on FOX, the return of THE BACHELOR on ABC, and the “premieres” (after 3 episodes have already aired) of SUPERSTORE and TELENOVELA as lead-ins to the season premiere of THE BIGGEST LOSER.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.

The Sked: SUNDAY Ratings
Sunday preliminary broadcast ratings: 60 Minutes and the CBS 7:00-7:30 half hour specifically inflated by 10 minutes of the end of Masters coverage from 7:00-7:10 pm (mostly the monumentally awkward and amazingly tense ceremony in “Butler Cabin,” where the Green Jacket is awarded).
