The Olympics pushed American Idol below a milestone.
NBC: See Mitch Metcalf’s Skedball post for details about the ratings track for the WINTER OLYMPICS. Last night’s preliminary 5.9 was up 0.3 from Wednesday, but below the comparable night at the 2002, 2006 and 2010 games, and only the Opening Ceremony and Tuesday’s telecast are giving Sochi a bare lead over Turin after the first full week of games.
FOX: AMERICAN IDOL was only down 0.2 from last week, but it was a notable fall, pushing the show below a 3 to 2.9. For whatever it’s worth, RAKE held its full rating from last week–albeit an extremely weak 1.1.
CBS: Despite the competition, a rerun THE BIG BANG THEORY was very strong at 2.8. Nothing else came close, with the rest of the night’s reruns falling from 1.8 for THE MILLERS to 1.2 for ELEMENTARY.
ABC: THE TASTE slipped 0.1 to 0.9, and was followed by 0.7 for a SCANDAL rerun.
CW: Reruns at 0.3/0.3.
The only fresh programming airing against the Olympics tonight is 20/20.
