Thursday night’s Winter Olympic coverage from Sochi averaged a 5.9 adult 18-49 rating in the fast nationals from 8-11 pm on NBC.  This is down one tenth from last Thursday’s first-ever Opening Ceremony-eve coverage (a 6.0 rating when no medals where at stake).  Also, last night’s coverage was slightly behind the the same night in 2006 from Turin (6.1 rating) and well below Vancouver 2010 (7.0) and Salt Lake City 2002 (9.7).  Last night’s events included Men’s Short Program, Men’s Slopestyle, Women’s 1000m Speed Skating and Women’s Skeleton.

Through Thursday, Sochi is now averaging a 6.6 adult 18-49 rating for all nights, now only one tenth ahead of Turin’s average over the same period (6.5) and well behind Vancouver (7.4) and Salt Lake City (11.1).
