Declines and disappointments.
DEMOGRAPHIC DETAIL: For each broadcast program (or hour segment), the chart below displays preliminary live+same day key advertiser demographics (adult 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54 ratings), audience skews (women 18-49, men 18-49 and adults 50+ shares) and total viewership (thousands of people over the age of 2).
Ratings analysis and comparisons follow the chart.
CBS: After SURVIVOR dropped 0.2 from last week’s premiere to 1.5, the season premiere of SEAL TEAM was down 0.7 from last year’s series premiere to tie a series low at 0.8 (down 0.1 from last May’s finale), and CRIMINAL MINDS fell 0.6 from the 2017 premiere to a series low 0.7 (down 0.2 from the April finale).
ABC: Drops across the board: THE GOLDBERGS by 0.1 to 1.3, AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE by 0.1 to 1.1, MODERN FAMILY by 0.2 to 1.4, SINGLE PARENTS by 0.2 to 1.1, and A MILLION LITTLE THINGS by 0.3 to 0.8.
FOX: EMPIRE fell 0.4 to 1.5, and STAR was down 0.2 to 1.2.
NBC: The network protected against a Week 2 drop by scheduling a 3-part crossover event. But while those were once bonanzas, this time only CHICAGO MED squeezed out a 0.1 bump to 1.3, while CHICAGO FIRE (1.3) and CHICAGO PD (1.2) were steady.
CW: BURDEN OF TRUTH ended its season with a steady 0.1, followed by a SUPERGIRL rerun at 0.1.
There are season premieres tonight for STATION 19, SUPERSTORE, and WILL & GRACE, as well as the official series premiere of I FEEL BAD.
COMPARISONS TO SIMILAR NIGHTS: Preliminary adult 18-49 live+same day ratings versus the same night last year and same night last week.
