A happy Halloween for Grimm.
NBC: The 1.5 for busted pilot MOCKINGBIRD LANE probably isn’t enough to bring the costly project back from the grave. However, the boost it gave GRIMM–at 1.9, the highest-rated show of the night, with its biggest number by far this season–provides a suggestion as to how NBC should be programming Fridays. DATELINE completed the night’s success story by edging ahead with 1.5 at 10PM.
FOX: Gordon Ramsay’s reality shows were played to death over the summer, and that may have come back to bite FOX on Friday, as KITCHEN NIGHTMARES had its season premiere at 0.9, barely over half last year’s debut. Not that FRINGE needs an excuse to be low-rated, but that lead-in didn’t help, and the drama slipped from its last new episode to 0.9.
ABC: SHARK TANK was down 0.2 from last week to 1.8, but that was easily enough to win its hour, and right behind Grimm as highest-rated show of the night. A Katie Couric ALL ACCESS NASHVILLE special, though, fell to 1.4, perhaps boding badly for next week’s debut of Malibu Country. 20/20 wrapped up the night with 1.4.
CBS: After a 1.0 NCIS rerun, both CSI NY and BLUE BLOODS were up marginally to 1.4.
CW: Even with its much-vaunted overseas value, it’s unclear how CW can stick with NIKITA at 0.2 and with fewer than 800,000 total viewers. That’s Treme territory, and CW isn’t HBO. At 8PM, AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL was none too healthy either at 0.4.
Tonight features WORLD SERIES GAME 3 on FOX, COLLEGE FOOTBALL on ABC, and reruns everywhere else. Sunday has more baseball and football, plus new episodes on CBS and ABC, but everyone knows the real excitement is over on cable, both for the ratings of THE WALKING DEAD and the spectacular quality of HOMELAND.

THE SKED FRIDAY NETWORK SCORECARD
Embattled ABC fared the best on a slow night. ABC: LAST MAN STANDING was down 0.2 from last week to 1.2, but things improved after that, as THE NEIGHBORS held at 0.9, SHARK TANK was easily the highest rated show of the night on any network, steady at 2.0,…

THE SKED’S FRIDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 9/14/12
ABC’s Friday makes its season debut. ABC: SHARK TANK, PRIMETIME and 20/20 all arrived for the new season with great consistency: 1.7/1.7/1.8. That was enough to win every hour (and the night), although none too impressively considering that they were facing reruns in almost every direction. FOX: What turned out…

THE SKED’S FRIDAY NETWORK SCORECARD – 7/20/12
A night, sadly, for news shows. NBC: We don’t know at this time what the ratings have been for the 24-hour cable news networks that have been covering the Aurora shootings non-stop since Thursday night. Friday evening, the broadcast networks joined the coverage, and NBC devoted 2 primetime hours of DATELINE…
