The box office volume for the top 12 films is now looking like $146 million for the weekend, up 28% from last year’s weekend and up 14% from the weekend’s average for the past four years.
The Hunger Games looks like a 60% decline in its second weekend to $61.1 million, now grossing $251 million through its first 10 days.

The ShowbuzzDaily Domestic Final estimates now show that the films opening wide this weekend are headed for: Wrath of the Titans ($92 million) and Mirror Mirror ($51 million).
Second week opener: The Hunger Games ($375 million, adjusted down).
The third week slate: 21 Jump Street ($132 million, adjusted up slightly from the first two weeks).
Fourth week: John Carter ($72 million, adjusted down slightly again).

Opening wide next weekend are American Reunion from Universal and the entirely unnecessary Titanic (3D) from Paramount. These films will be compared to a true weekend from hell (perhaps the worst of the debacle that was 2011): Hanna ($12.4 million opening weekend), Arthur ($12.2 million), Soul Surfer ($10.6 million) and Your Highness ($9.4 million).
