Continuing to wield a mighty hammer at the boxoffice, THE AVENGERS on Monday had the highest non-holiday, non-summer Monday of all time with $18.9M. That handily beat the previous record holder Avatar, which had $16.4M on December 21, 2009. Avengers has already grossed $700M worldwide, with much more to come.
OPENINGS: TERRIFIER 3 (Cineverse) broke through to a mainstream audience with an $18.3M weekend, which is more than the entire $10.6M run of 2022’s Terrifier 2 (that one’s highest weekend was $1.9M). The new entry in the unrated, ultra-violent slasher series accomplished this with not just a low production budget, but reportedly a miniscule amount […]
> Well, another disaster weekend for the Hollywood studios. $70 million in business for the top 12 films, down 17% from the same weekend last year (which was a fairly typical second weekend in December). The top 12 films this weekend should do a combined $217 million, up 16% from the same […]

The Lion King in 3D is headed for about $118 million in additional domestic box office for Disney, while Contagion has been upgraded […]

The film is probably headed for a worldwide total of $660 million, including our newly revised forecast of $399 million domestic. Click “read more” to see the updated weekly worldwide table. Arriving in North America Friday, The […]
>Surging to the top of the worldwide box office chart, The Adventures of Tintin from Steven Speilberg has racked up $125 million overseas in two weeks. The animated film (with the unorthodox but highly successful pattern of opening overseas well before it does in North America) has a shot at well over $300 million worldwide […]
