The fourth and final night of the 2016 Republican National Convention added up to 30.8 million persons 2+ and over 9.9 million adults 25-54 on the three broadcast networks and three cable new channels, well above Wednesday night (22.8 million P2+ and 6.6 million P25-54). As we have seen most of the week, Thursday night was above 2012/Romney levels but below 2008/McCain levels. For comparison, the final night of the 2008/Obama DNC totaled 33.3 million P2+ and 2012/Obama totaled 27.6 million P2+. Look for coverage of DNC 2016 ratings next week.
On Thursday night, Fox News won persons 2+ again handily, although CNN surged into 2nd place, pushing NBC into third place. Same with persons 25-54, with CNN moving into a very competitive second place behind Fox News (as CNN more than doubles its 2012 performance, when the network was really struggling).
All four nights of the RNC in 2016 averaged 23.8 million P2+ and 7.4 million P25-54, again, ahead of 2012 but behind 2008.
