MONDAY UPDATE: The most significant change from the overnights was the 0.1 decline for HART OF DIXIE, which doesn’t sound like much, but reduced the show to a tiny 0.2 rating, which one would think even on CW would mean certain cancellation. The KITCHEN NIGHTMARES rerun was up 0.1 on FOX, but the RAISING HOPE finale stayed where it was. The season premiere of UNFORGETTABLE shrank 0.1, and HAWAII 5-0 was up by the same margin. On ABC, LAST MAN STANDING and SHARK TANK both rose 0.1. On NBC, DATELINE lost 0.1 and GRIMM found it.
FRIDAY CABLE: Things were dismal on cable, too, as the only original programming to even reach 0.7 were WWE on Syfy, an NBA game on ESPN and SONS OF GUNS on Discovery.
Neither a finale nor a premiere roused viewers on Friday night.
FOX: It’s not much to boast about, but at least RAISING HOPE managed a tiny lift for its last episodes, up 0.1 to 0.6. A rerun KITCHEN NIGHTMARES in the 8PM hour was at 0.7.
CBS: The season premiere of UNFORGETTABLE matched last year’s finale at 1.0–but that was in the middle of summer, when network ratings are generally much lower. HAWAII 5-0 and BLUE BLOODS were respectively down and up 0.1, to 1.3 and 1.5.
ABC: SHARK TANK won ABC the night as usual, although it was down 0.2 to 1.9. LAST MAN STANDING slipped 0.1 to 1.3, and THE NEIGHBORS may have damaged its chances for survival even more than they already were by falling 0.2 to 0.9. 20/20 was up 0.1 to 1.5.
NBC: GRIMM and HANNIBAL both shed 0.2, to a respective 1.3 and 0.8. DATELINE started the night by dropping 0.3 to 1.2.
CW: Both the new and rerun episodes of WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY were at 0.4, which was down 0.1 for the new one. HART OF DIXIE would be guaranteeing its cancellation by staying at 0.3–if this weren’t CW, where barely watched shows can get renewed.
Tonight will be dominated by the NCAA TOURNAMENT Final Four coverage on TBS, and the broadcast networks won’t try to compete, as FOX throws the final 2 episodes of RAKE up against it. SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE is hosted by Anna Kendrick, with musical guest Pharrell. On Sunday, CBS has the ACADEMY OF COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS against fresh episodes on the other networks, but the excitement will be at HBO, where GAME OF THRONES has its season premiere, followed by the series premiere of SILICON VALLEY and the season premiere of VEEP. AMC is unaccountably throwing the series premiere of its Revolutionary War drama TURN against this juggernaut.
