Suddenly those ABC sitcoms aren’t such sure things.
ABC: For the third consecutive week, LAST MAN STANDING and MALIBU COUNTRY fell, to 1.4 and 1.3 respectively. That’s particularly worrisome for Malibu, which dropped a big 0.4. Both shows are still probably fine as long as they hold at their current levels (they continued to hold 2d place in their hour), but any more slippage and they may be in trouble. SHARK TANK, while down 0.2 from last week to 1.9, was the highest-rated show of the night and gave ABC the win, while 20/20, also down 0.2 to 1.4, tied for the title at 10PM.
NBC: After an hour of 0.7 sitcom repeats, the last new GRIMM to air in 2012 was down slightly to 1.6, still the night’s highest-rated scripted show. DATELINE, at 1.2, was behind the other networks at 10PM.
CBS: UNDERCOVER BOSS, despite being down 0.2 to 1.7, easily won at 8PM. CSI NY held even at 1.4, and a Whitney Houston tribute concert was at the same number at 10PM, about what the network normally does with Blue Bloods.
FOX: Even with last week, for whatever that’s worth. KITCHEN NIGHTMARES and its 1.2 was in 3rd place at 8PM, and FRINGE only topped CW at 9PM.
CW: The cycle finale of AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL didn’t generate any special excitement, tying last week at 0.6. A 9PM Top Model clip show at 9PM scored better than Nikita had been doing there with 0.4
Tonight, as usual on a fall Saturday, is a mix of college football and reruns. (Look for Mitch Metcalf’s SKEDBALL sports ratings report on Monday.) SNL is hosted by Jeremy Renner, with musical guest Maroon 5. Sunday’s big event is the AMERICAN MUSIC AWARDS on ABC, preempting the usual line-up. Last year the special pulled a 4.3 for the 2d year in a row, which would be a significant improvement over the network’s typical Sunday if it can repeat again.
