A brutal night for NBC from Sochi: a preliminary 4.5 adult 18-49 rating from 8:00-11:00 pm, versus a 5.5 rating on the same night in Turin 2006, a 5.4 from Vancouver 2010 and 8.5 from Salt Lake City 2002.  Events last night included: Men’s Figure Skating Final, Men’s Super Combined, Women’s Aerials and Women’s Skeleton.  Also, Meredith Vieira, the third NBC primetime host in Sochi, anchored last night, as Bob Costas continues to battle enflamed, glowing eyes and Matt Lauer tries to recover from pulling double-duty hosting both Today and the prime coverage for three days.

Through the second Friday night, Sochi has fallen into a tie with Turin (each a 6.4 adult 18-49 rating over that period) and still lagging Vancouver’s 7.2 rating average.
