SHOWBUZZDAILY EARLY WEEKEND BOXOFFICE REPORT – 6/23/12

BRAVE (Pixar/Disney), of course, continued its victorious march through the weekend’s boxoffice on Saturday.  According to preliminary numbers at Deadline, the animated fantasy fell a small 4% on its 2d day of release, to $23.6M.  That’s in line with the 1st 2 days of WALL-E, and should mean a weekend around $66-68M.  It won’t be a Pixar non-sequel record, but the normal Pixar range is a very nice range to be in.

Nothing changed for ABRAHAM LINCOLN:  VAMPIRE HUNTER (20th), either, which fell 5% to around $6M on Saturday.  It’ll end up around $16M for the weekend, meaning a complete write-off for the movie’s $70M production cost unless overseas audiences have an interest in bizarro American history.

SEEKING A FRIEND FOR THE END OF THE WORLD (Focus/Universal) increased very slightly on Saturday, but still only reached $1.4M for the day and a terrible $3.5-4M weekend.
